The Family Partnership Story The People Who Make It Happen The Family Partnership Story
We had a dream – we dreamed that if we brought together a diverse array of agencies under one roof great things would happen.
People in need could find help more easily and in one place.
Agencies could cut their overhead costs and spend more of their budgets on direct service.
Proximity would breed new ideas about transforming the community.
Collaborations would blossom.
And the synergy would generate energy and excitement, and an optimism about the future of our community.
We decided to make that dream reality.
Since its opening in 1997 in a long vacant high school building, the Family Partnership Center (FPC) has grown to shelter more than 20 different health and human services agencies under one roof.
Our goal of transforming a fragmented, duplicative, and often frustrating service delivery system into a collaborative, streamlined, and more user-friendly one makes progress every day.
We work with our partners to:
Maximize community resources Support the development of healthy families Promote self sufficiency of individuals and families Provide a safe space for youth Increase educational success Reduce crime, drug/alcohol abuse and teen pregnancy Connect community residents with gainful employment and entrepreneurial resources Provide an outlet for cultural, social, technological and educational activities to enhance personal development. The Family Partnership Center is unique. There’s none other like us in the country. But we hope that’s not for long. We receive requests from across the country for information and help in establishing similar centers.
